THE SACRED GROVE - VALUE PRINTS

The Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York, is the site where Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, visited young Joseph Smith Jr. in 1820. That visit, often called the First Vision, began events that restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth.

When Joseph Smith Sr. and his son Alvin first purchased their 100-acre farm near Palmyra, New York, the land, like most of the land in the area, was covered with a magnificent stand of hardwood forest. Many of the trees were from 200 to 350 years old.

My painting is a representation of what the light that accompanied the visit of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to the grove may have been like.
